TYPE 3 Conditional sentence type 3 or third conditional is a conditional sentence that is used when the result / consequence of the condition does not have the possibility to materialize because the condition must have been met in the past. The condition is in the subordinate clause with the subordinate conjunction "if", while the result / consequence is in the main clause. Function The type 3 conditional refers to an impossible condition in the past and its probable result in the past.
