Descriptive Text
Descriptive Text is a type of text in English that clearly describes the characteristics inherent in something, be it humans, animals, plants or inanimate objects. The purpose of this text is to provide clear information about the object described to the reader.
Characteristics of Descriptive Text:
1. Using the Simple Present Tense
This text uses the Simple Present Tense because we will describe the facts attached to an object, and one of the functions of the Simple Present Tense itself is to show a fact or truth.
2. Using many adjectives (adjectives).
Because the function of this text is to provide information by describing an object being described, in Descriptive Text there will be many adjectives. Examples are big, small, colorful, and so on.
3. Using a connecting verb (relating verb).
A relative verb is a verb that gives an explanation to the noun that is the subject of a sentence. For example: is, have, seem, appear, and other verbs.
Generic Structure of Descriptive Text:
1. Identification
This section, located in the first paragraph, aims to identify an object to be described. Identification serves to introduce the reader to the object that we are going to explain, before we tell about the object in more detail in the next paragraph.
2. Description
This section, located in the second paragraph and so on, contains the characteristics inherent in something that you have introduced to the reader in the first paragraph.

Jember Regency
Jember is a regency in East Java. It is located in between Bondowoso and Banyuwangi. Banyuwangi is regency that is located at the easternmost end of Java Island, before Bali Strait, so that we can know that Jember is near enough from Bali Island.
Jember is a beautiful place. In Jember, there are a lot of interesting places to visit, such as Papuma Beach, Watu Ulo Beach, Watu Ondo, Pancer Beach, Rembangan, and so on. Jember also has a famous carnival, named Jember Fashion Carnaval. It is an international annual fashion carnival which is usually held in August. Beside some beautiful places and a famous carnival, Jember also has a unique culture. People usually called it as Pendhalungan. Pendhalungan is an acculturation culture between Javanese and Maduranese. Jember has a total area of 3,293.34 km2. Because of that, it creates a different culture between North Jember and South Jember. In North Jember, there are a lot of Maduranese people and they usually speak Maduranese. On the other hand, In South Jember, not many Maduranese people live there. It is dominated with Javanese people. Because of that, it creates a new unique language which other regency do not have. The example is the word “Check” which means “very”.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana
Upon your arrival in Bali, as you face the southern part of the island, you may see a figure towering in the distance, the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. This towering figure is none other than a giant statue known as Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK). Located in the Ungasan area in the southern part of Bali.
It is dedicated to the Hindu God of Vishnu and his mount, the mythical bird Garuda. This colossal statue was completed in August 2018, and was inaugurated by the seventh Indonesian President Joko Widodo on September of 2018. It was built with the intention of being Bali's landmark, which lives up to its name, as the statue is visible from many locations on the island due to its enormous size. Now the GWK statue serves as a cultural park where visitors can come and see the statue itself, as well as other cultural dances and performances. Below are some interesting facts and tidbits about the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana stands 121 meters tall with a wingspan measuring 65 meters, making it taller than the Statue of Liberty by up to 30 meters. It is considered to be the third tallest structure in the world after the Spring Temple Buddha, which towers at a height of 153 meters, and Myanmar's Laykyun Sekkya Buddha at 135 meters. Domestically however, it remains the tallest structure in all of Indonesia. The statue itself was made of 3,000 tons of copper and bronze plates to reach its current height. It is also the heaviest statue in Indonesia.
The total construction project of the GWK, from concept to finish, took a whopping 28 years. It was designed initially in 1990 by I Nyoman Nuarta. The actual construction of the monument began in 1997. The statue is a design masterpiece that combines the elements of art, technology and science to make it withstand the powerful tropical storms in Bali as well as earthquakes. Kediri is a name of a town. It is situated in a valley between the Kelud and Willis mountains and inhabited by about 1.3 million people. In the centre of the town there is a large hill which is called the Dathok Mountain. Because of the topography of the region, Kediri is called a chilly town by the locals. There is a big river called Brantas cutting off the centre of the town.
Beside the temples, Kediri is also famous for its products like cigarettes and a special kind of tofu or bean curd. This highly nutritious food is delicacy of Kediri and has a distinctive taste. The cigarettes factory dominates the town economy and employs the majority of the women labor force. Kediri and the cigarettes factory are inseparable and it is considered the biggest cigarette factory in Indonesia. Most of the local people work in this factory. Those who do not work here are farmers or traders.

Masjid Sultan Suriansyah is a historical mosque. Built 300 years ago, this building is the oldest mosque in South Kalimantan. The mosque is located in the North Kuin Village of Banjarmasin. It was built in the reign of Sultan Suriansyah known as Pangeran Samudera. He was the first Banjarnese King who converted into Islam. This mosque was found on the bank of the Kuin River, near KampungKraton, which was destroyed by the Dutch colonial.
The construction of Masjid Sultan Suriansyah was unique. The roof is layered. It took the Banjar's past architecture before Islam came. Different from any other old mosques in Banjar, the mihrab has its own roof, separated from the main building.
