PROCEDURE TExt



Procedure text 

=> is text designed to describe how something is done/achieved through a sequence of actions or steps.

There are three elements that make up the procedure text as shown in the chart below:

1. ) Social Function

Procedure text has a social function to describe an order or instructions on how something is done/achieved in order

2.) Text Structure

The structure of the procedure text consists of Goal, Material and Step.

3.) Language Elements

The linguistic elements contained in the procedure text include: present tense, imperative, action verb, connectives and adverb.

1. What are those texts about?
From the title of the text above we can see how information is given to readers on how to insert a sim card into the phone and how to cooking using a rice cooker through the steps that must be followed.
Then the answer: The text is about the information on how to insert simcard cellphone and how to cook rice in a rice cooker.

2. Who will probably need to read read the texts?
Questions use the question word "who" to answer questions you need to think about who needs this information.
Then the Answer: Everyone who has cellphone and everyone who will cook rice in rice cooker will need to read this text

3. What are the purpose of the texts?
The purpose of the procedure text can be seen how the author provides information in the form of methods/instructions that must be followed so that the results achieved are efficient. Therefore, pay attention to the initial sentence used always contains an imperative verb in the form of commands used at each stage.
Then the answer: The purpose of each text is to tell how something is done/accomplished through the sequence of steps.

4. What is the benefit of reading the texts ?
The benefits of reading texts are certainly related to the information provided so that readers get information to use the information accordingly efficiently delivered.

Procedure Text


 


Procedure Text, is text that gives us orders or instructions to do something. Usually this type of text begins with the sentence “How to…”, for example “How to make a cup of tea” or “How to operate the machine”. Procedure Text is found in many cookbooks and manuals. The purpose of procedure text is to explain how something is made, done or used through sequential steps.

Aspects of Procedure Text
In writing Procedure Text in English, there are at least two aspects that need to be understood and studied.
1. Text Organization of Procedure Text
a) Goals
provide information about the intent and purpose of the Procedure Text.
b) Materials
provide information about the list of materials or materials needed.
c) Steps
contains a list of sequences of instructions for making or operating something.

2. Language Features of Procedure Text
a) Simple Present Tense
Procedure Text must be written using the Simple Present Tense. This is because in the Procedure Text there are fact sentences about the manufacture or use of something.
b) Imperative Sentences
An example is "add 3 onions and mix it well with the dough". Commands must start with a verb. Examples are heat, stir, mix, add, boil, plug in, and so on.
c) Connectives
Used as a liaison between one activity with other activities. For example, firstly, secondly, then, after that, finally, last, and so on.
d) Adverbs
Used to give an adverb of time, such as: in 10 minutes, for 1 hour, during the first half hour. In addition, it can also be used to provide information about how, for example slowly, thoroughly, well, fast, and so on.

Example of Procedure Text


HOW TO MAKE FRIED RICE

Ingredients:
2 cloves of Garlic
2 onions cut into small pieces
1 table spoon of vegetable oil
a plate of rice
some salt

Steps how to make it:
1. First, pound garlic and 2 pinches of salt.
2. Second, heat vegetable oil on a frying pan.
3. Third, put the pounded garlic and salt, and onions into the hot vegetable oil. Fry them a while.
4. Fourth, put one plate of rice. Fry and mix them around 3 minutes.
5. Fifth, add two pinches of salt. Continue frying until the rice is hot enough.
6. Finally, put the fried rice on a plate. Serve with a sunny side up.

Burning a CD allows you to take music from one CD and transfer it onto another CD. This process is possible with any computer that has a CD driver, but it is easier on a computer that can run two CDs at once. Either way, you can copy all your music from one CD to the next. Here is how to copy from one CD to another, using one and two CD drivers.

1. Insert the CD from which you want to burn music into your computer’s CD tray. Insert a blank CD into your computer’s second CD tray.
2. Open windows media player and wait for it to recognize the CD.
3. Click the “burn” option at the top of Windows Media Player. Drag the songs you want from the list of your songs into the area on the right labeled “Burn List”.
4. Choose the blank CD onto which you want to burn your song. This can be done at the top of the Burn List Menu.
5. Click the “Start Burn” button when you have all the song you want for the CD added to the Burn List. Wait for your computer to finish the CD, then take both of the CDs out.
